Hello,

Could you help me to identify this anvil, please. The story goes that my grandfather took this anvil from german military servise/repair vehicle during World War 2.

There are letters on anvil: "II. A. R. ?. ww.2". Not sure about the letter following "R.", could be "E" or "F", but it's almost imposible to read anymore.
The weight of the anvils is approximately 21Kg.
Measurements could be seem in photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/3bYooQsMhGWQQnQu7

A
ny info will be appreciated. Thank you.

Begbis,

this one seems to be a much older anvil than WWII, probably a farrier's anvil, made before 1900. It didn't have an easy life, judging by the looks of it.
The inscription could be A.R.S. or A.R.S.M., but that is a very bold guess which is related to a well-known anvil maker near Ennepetal: August Refflinghaus Söhne (Milspe).

It is impossible to say something relevant just by looking at photos.

Kind regards,

Jean
